'Swift's' was probably the Ship Inn, Rainhill, where a Peter Swift had long been landlord.

3 on safety bikes

On the evening of 14th July, I make pace for Billy Slade and Fletcher who push their Swifts swiftly to Swifts, Rainhill. We drink and meet young Slade coming home and he & I pace a wagonette and pair of galloping horses
