Cycling in Anglesey

Cycle Ride from Red Wharf Bay

This ride offers quiet lanes edged wild flowers in spring and summer and attractive rural views. There is the opportunity (detour) to visit the Oriel Ynys Mon art gallery. The latter part of the ride has views of the mountains of Snowdonia. NB. There is a 225 yard (210m) section of narrow lane soon after the church at Llanfair M.E. where the road surface has deteriorated so much that the cycling is now virtually off-road.

Route:  Red Wharf Bay - Llanfair M.E.- Maenaddwyn - Capel Coch - Llanbedregoch - Red Wharf Bay (OS map 114 Anglesey/Mon) (Photos of the Ride)

Distance: 15 miles (18 miles with detour)

Ascent: 140m undulating

Points of Interest

Red Wharf Bay (Traeth Coch) is a tranquil, unspoilt coastal hamlet with expansive sands and fine views

Llanfair M.E. on the outskirts of Benllech is an area of colourful cottage gardens in spring and summer and has an isolated, pretty little church

Oriel Ynys Mon is a pleasant modern art gallery on the outskirts of the county town of Llangefni
