Cycle Ride from Llannefydd

A short ride through pleasant countryside and visiting a strikingly beautiful part of the Elwy valley (photos of the ride)

Route: Llannefydd - Henllan - Elwy valley -Llannefydd OS Map 50,000 No 116

Distance: 9 miles

Ascent: 210m. There is a long and at times steep climb out of the Elwy valley after the Dolben Arms pub, otherwise moderate apart from the short sharp climb into Henllan

Start: Free car park in centre of small village of Llannefydd Grid Ref: 982705

    The Ride

Turn Right from car park and leave Llannefydd passing the pub on your left

Straight Across the crossroads after just over 1 mile

Turn Left on reaching the Tower at entrance to Henllan on to B5428 signposted Trefnant & Groes

Keep Left at fork after a third of mile signposted Trefnant

Turn Next Left at bend after another third of a mile signposted Bont Newydd 2

After 2 miles Turn Left just after passing Dolben Arms pub signposted Llannefydd 3

Turn Right at T junction after one and one third miles signposted Llannefydd 1½

Turn Left after quarter of a mile signposted Llannefydd 1¼

Turn Right at crossroads and return to Llannefydd

Points of Interest

LLannefydd: for information about the village and parish see the village website.   

Henllan church is curious in that its prominent tower is built on a rock separated from the church itself by quite a distance.

   Elwy Valley: This part of the valley has steep sides and is very scenic indeed.
