Alwen Trail

A new 7 mile easy off-road trail round the Alwen reservoir in the lonely Hiraethog moors was opened in July 2006.

There is a car park at Grid Ref: 956530 (OS 50,000:1 No 116 Denbigh & Colwyn Bay), which is reached by untarred track off the B4501, and which is signposted Cronfa Alwen Reservoir. There are blue marker posts indicating the trail, circling the reservoir at a distance and which at one point climbs up on to the moorland. While part of the trail is on forest tracks the greater part follows a newly created 1.5 metre rough track with several sharp descents and is really only suitable for mountain bikes.

    The views are superb.
